Montana Alberta Tie Line  Electricity transmission line connecting Great Falls, Montana and Lethbridge, Alberta

On May 1, 2020 two subsidiaries of Berkshire Hathaway Energy purchased the Montana Alberta Tie Line (MATL), a 230 kV electricity transmission line connecting Great Falls, Montana and the Alberta electrical grid at Lethbridge, Alberta.

BHE Canada owns the Canadian portion of the project and manages the day-to-day operation of the facility. BHE U.S. Transmission owns the portion of the line in the United States. Learn more here.  

Natural Energy Partner Holdings – natural gas generation in southern Alberta

Berkshire Hathaway Energy Canada (BHE Canada) owns a 20 MW natural gas fired, reciprocating engine driven generating facility northwest of Medicine Hat in southern Alberta. The facility went into commercial operation in December 2016.

Rattlesnake Ridge Wind Farm – wind generation in southern Alberta

BHE Canada is developing a 117 MW windfarm in southern Alberta called Rattlesnake Ridge Wind Project. BHE Canada has partnered with Renewable Energy Services (RES), which will build the wind farm set to be complete and operational in December 2021. BHE Canada will own and operate this renewable generation asset. For more information about this project, please read the news release.
